The libertarian Dime – Episode 70 – On Healthcare/insurance

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

This week Shane and Jonathan were joined by Josh Brady, a small business owner in Nashville, TN. With three people all having different health insurance situations, they were able to cover a lot of ground. Topics ranged from the effects of mandates on insurance rates, state to state comparisons, the great advantage of HSA’s for younger people, the real factors that cause health insurance rates to rise, and many other topics. They didn’t get to cover everything they wanted, but it was about as information packed an hour as they could do!

Upcoming Episode 70

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

We would like to thank all our listeners who downloaded our recent return episode. Jonathan and I were both pleasantly surprised by the immediate interest. Both of us hope that everyone found our first show back, a real nice listen and something you can learn from.

This week, Jonathan and I will be joined by Josh Brady who is a small business owner in Nashville, TN to discuss health care. It won’t be a political discussion, but instead an examination of the whole concept of health care, health insurance, personal responsibility and what free marketers actually want to see happen. For some it might be old hat, but we hope that we create a real primer for people for future health care discussions.

We’ll be streaming live via TalkShow at this link: http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/20976. Feel free to email us at thedime [at] ldnetwork [dot] tv.

Hope to hear from you all!

The libertarian Dime – Episode 69 – The Return

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Shane and Jonathan returned to podcasting with this episode and talked about why they came back. As they explained, the podcast from now on will take on less of a day to day cage match type look at politics, but instead will explain and investigate the libertarian philosophy and how it relates to culture, human rights, animal rights, science, etc. This first episode focused on explaining a few fallacies about libertarianism. A great return to podcasting all around!

We’re Back

Sunday, February 14th, 2010

I didn’t think I’d be writing this, but to be quick, the podcast is back. Jonathan and I have decided that we had something pretty good going and what we really needed was a long break. So next Thursday, February 18th, we return with The libertarian Dime. The small ‘l’ is intentional to convey a slight change in focus from the previous incarnation. We will focus less on the politics of the day and more about libertarian ideas on human rights, animal rights, culture, science, etc. Also, every 4th show, we will do a “free form” show, simply called “The Dime”, where we will do shows about any topic we feel interested in. We could have a famous video game designer on, or we could be talking to one of the hoaxers behind the 2008 Georgia Bigfoot hoax.

I hope we can regain the traction and audience we had before and even build on it. My last post did sound a little down on the show, but I think since then, after we had a continued stream of downloads, I looked back with a much more positive view on the podcast. With this long break, we hope to make improvements to the show and reach new heights.

Look for a new episode next weekend!
