Mercedes is a entrepreneur and a fresh food enthusiast. Mercedes is celebrating her first year anniversary of running her store, The Farm Market on Warren. Besides the challenges of running a start-up small business we talk about the growing movement of “eating fresh, eating local”. Mercedes sells produce, meats and dairy from local farms with an eye toward buying only from farms that demonstrate that they are good stewards of the land. The Farm Market on Warren serves a wide variety of people, and is a source for the many fine dining restaurants in the community. For Mercedes, the satisfaction she gets from providing fresh foods, and teaching people how to cook them and introducing them to new varieties more than compensates for 80+ hour work weeks.
